ABOUT CIN

Cin is a twenty-something y/o female living in Los Angeles .  Happy and straightforward.  A relatively simple gal, it doesn’t take much to cheer her up. 

Q: Why ‘Cinpii’?

Short answer: it’s a childhood nickname.

Long answer (hold onto your hats): Surprisingly, this nifty moniker took me a lot of thought.  After I knew I wanted to break into the fanfiction world, I agonized over what my penname would be.  It had to be catchy and short so it would easily be remembered.  But most importantly, it had to represent me. 

How many times had I seen some kid bounce from pseudonym to pseudonym because they named themselves after something they thought was cool at the time, only to change their name because it no longer suited them years after? 

There was just no way I’d let that happen to myself.  I wasn’t going to build a reputation on a name, just to change it after it no longer fit me.  So yah, lots of agonizing.

In the end, I decided to go with the childhood nickname my youngest sister gave me.  I hated it when I was a kid.  It was something she’d call me in spite whenever we got into our sisterly squabbles.  But over the years it became a silly endearment.  And that’s why minna know me as Cinpii.  It’s cute.  It’s quirky.  It’s original.  It’s a play on my own real name.  But best of all, it suits me perfectly.

So my advice to minna who are thinking of a penname?  Pick a name that represents yourself in your entirety.  Don’t just name yourself after what you like, because face it, preferences change.  Don’t pigeonhole yourself into a certain anime.  You’re not an anime character.  You’re your own person.  And that’s all I have to say about that.
